Treasure Box

     Treasure Box by Orson Scott Card is part of a genre I haven't ventured into very much: science fiction. As soon as I picked up this book, I couldn't put it down.
     Treasure Box is about a man called Quentin Fears, pronounced "fierce," who fell into money by accident and honestly has quite a boring, bland life. He has never been in love, or even in a relationship with a woman. That is until one night while attending a business party he meets what seems to be his dream woman, Madeleine.
     As their relationship progresses, things seem to be stranger and stranger with Madeleine. She never talks about her past and refuses to let Quentin meet her parents until after they got married; this should've been the first sign that things weren't exactly "normal" with Madeleine. What seems to be the "perfect" relationship quickly turns into a fight between Quentin and forces that he will never fully understand.
     Treasure Box is a great mix of science fiction, horror, and being in love with the wrong person but being too blind to see the potential danger that lies ahead.

      The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon is about Christopher John Francis Boone and about how his brain works differently from most everyone else. Christopher investigates the mysterious murder of the neighbor’s dog, Wellington, and promises to bring the person to justice. While doing his “detective work,” he uncovers secrets that he doesn’t believe to be true. This sends him on a journey to find what he’s been missing for many years and shows him how scary the world truly is.       Throughout this novel, we see how Christopher’s brain works and how it unravels problems. He is very uncomfortable around strangers and cannot stand to be touched. This is a book that should be on everyone’s reading list. It gives you a new perspective from a person who isn’t considered “normal.” It lets you take a peak into the brain of someone who sees the world differently from everyone else.       I have never read anything like this book.      The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule is a retelling of the events involving the notorious Ted Bundy. Ted Bundy was one of the most prolific serial killers in the history of the country. He was known for abducting, raping, and murdering young women in Colorado, Utah, Florida, Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. This book was a peak into the more personal aspects of his life including his feelings during his arrests, his life before he started killing, and how these events absolutely shook the life of the author, Ann Rule.      Ann Rule worked with Ted at Seattle's Suicide Hotline Crisis Clinic and formed a strong bond with him.
